Mummy's Musings - Pride

Cahaya took her first steps a couple of weeks ago. It was nothing more than 'advanced' cruising, stumbling forward, clumsy, funny.

This week at exactly 10 months, she has begun to walk! Well, she can do 10 steps forward unsupported ( yes, I am counting! ) before she heads south or has to grab onto something. Can I officially count this as walking? I think so.

Dr Spock says that early walking depends on a few factors. One - heredity. ( Phew! Thank God for good genes! ) followed by ambition, and muscular babies ( oh oh ). And what ambition my daughter has!

My heart swells with pride as I see her take an extra step every day. I laugh when she throws her head back with sheer joy after she has reached her destination. She is so proud of herself, I can just see it! She can barely contain her excitement and cracks up, and starts 'talking' as if to say, "Hey! Did you just see what I did??? I can walk". I can feel her excitement! It fills the room! Her spirit soars! My spirit soars! I am so overjoyed, I'm close to tears..

And yes, I'm still trying to get that part on video but then again, I'm too busy watching over her so she doesn't crack her skull open on some evil table edge!

In the park, she is trying to master walking in her new Clarks. ( the park is way too dirty for bare feet ) It is alien to my little one, who up till now has been barefoot and fancy free! It barely hinders her though, and she is trying her darndest to climb up those 8 steps to the top of the multi-coloured slide cum tunnel thingy. ( mind you she's a champ at the stairs at home but only barefoot )I watch very closely how she does it. She uses her brain. Yesterday she couldn't get the steps right in shoes, but today, she worked it out. Foot to 1st step, knee to 2nd. Foot up to 3rd step, knee up to 4th and so on! Wow. I'm amazed. Nothing holding this Thomas back.

What a little toughie she's become. Today she fell backwards onto marble and hit her head. Not a peep. She just got right back up and walked another 10 steps! Call me a braggart. Whatever! I'm just a proud Mama. But this proud Mama is going right out tomorrow to buy a walking harness!

BABY SIGNS PLAYGROUP 12.09.07

As there were many Mums away and some not able to attend a playdate, and no playdate had actually been planned, this week 5 of us ventured to KIZSPORTS at One Utama for a TRIAL BABY SIGNS, SAY & PLAY CLASS.

Though none of us actually paid attention ( except for maybe Hannah ! ) we all had fun eating the toys and roaming around the big room!

Mums' piled down a big lunch at Ms Read afterwards, before rushing off to put all us little darlings and monsters to bed!
